Artists Diane George and Unaiza Karim will deliver a

special one-day workshop. Participants will have the

chance to learn how to use traditional tools and materials utilised in the art of the illuminated page.

This will be a key opportunity to participate in an

ancient art form used to decorate the pages of the

Bible, Qur’an and other manuscripts.

Maryam or Mary is a distinguished and honoured

woman in both Christianity and Islam.

By using this name and bringing together two different

styles of illumination we aim to promote art and

creativity as well as mutual understanding and respect.
Maryam = Mother of Prophet Jesus (Islam)
Mary = Mother of Prophet Jesus (Christianity)

Each participant will produce an illuminated page by the

end of the workshop to keep (sample image attached).
