Burnley’s LSP (Local Strategic Partnership known as BAP or Burnley Action Partnership) is made up of people from local business, key public sector agencies such as Burnley Borough Council, the police
and Lancashire County Council and BCN for the community, voluntary & faith sector.
Every year BCN develop its own DELIVERY PLAN
The LSP in Burnley is known as Burnley Action Partnership (BAP). The opportunity now exists for
strong Voluntary, Community & Faith sector representation on BAP and for them to influence decisions and take action to improve their neighbourhoods. BAP is now consulting on the town next three years strategic plan - the latest draft is the result of month of consultation with the partnership and Burnley Community
Network elected Management Committee members.
The final draft was discussed for final discussion and ratification at the February 2010 Full BAP
Assembly. BAP also oversees the implementation of plans that address priorities for the whole
Borough within the Sustainable Community Strategy "BURNLEY'S FUTURE"
At Burnley Community Network, we work closely with the BAP. The work of the Partnership is integral
to what we do and what we are.
Here we provide some background information to what BAP is , who is involved and how you can
learn more about Terminology role in developing a Better Burnley.
The BCN and BAP Protocol 2006 has been agreed upon. BAP has 52 members from the Public,
Private and Voluntary, Community & Faith sectors. BCN is the representative of the third sector on
BAP. So if VCF organisations want to be part of the full BAP Assembly and or engage in the BAP
Thematic groups they must be registered to BCN.
BAP’s main responsibility is to set the strategic framework for Burnley within which the partnership
organisations work to address the priorities that have been agreed for the Borough as a whole.
The partnership works to ensure that all the member organisations work together in order to
make the most of each others expertise and resources. BAP operates to try to ensure that all the
projects and initiatives that are in progress or being developed for the area also contribute to
achieving the agreed priorities and are co-ordinated and supported.
